Of course, everyone’s skin tone is unique and sometimes the best method to match your undertones is to mix and match. That’s why we recommend the sample pack. What sunscreen do you recommend for darker skin types?
Our Ebony tint sunscreen is specially formulated for darker cooler skin tones. But it really depends how much melanin is in your skin and what your undertones are. What some customers prefer is to order the sample pack and mix the 3 different tints to contour or better match their individual undertones.

What is the shelf life of your products?
SUNMUD brand sunscreen has an expiration of 2 years after manufacturing.
How long do your “water resistant” products last?
Technically the water resistance claim is combined with the SPF claim. The maximum water resistance claim in the United States is 80 min. SUNMUD brand sunscreen has successfully achieved SPF 50 after 80 min of water resistance testing. In our personal experience, SUNMUD stays on for our entire surf sessions and longer, depending on how much you apply and that you don't wipe it off by touching or rubbing your face.
What do you do if your SUNMUD gets really hard?
The beeswax and shea butter really help with water resistance, but they can also become more solid when it's cool or cold out. The best thing you can do is warm it up slightly, say on the dashboard of your car, or just rub it a little bit with your finger.
What does “reef safe” mean?
“Reef safe" refers to products that are formulated without ingredients known to harm coral reefs and marine ecosystems (like oxybenzone and octinoxate). These chemicals damage coral DNA, cause bleaching, and disrupt the growth and reproduction of marine organisms. Read our blog to learn more.

Finally an effective sunscreen in an easy to apply face stick that doesn’t feel greasy. I also like that it’s not harmful to the environment and is produced in earth friendly packaging.
After using many types of products for my face, Sunmud has proven to prevent burns and also not run into my eyes…especially during sweaty MTB rides and workouts in sunny & hot conditions. The best part is that there is no chemical irritation in my eyes from wearing it on my face and neck like many other brands.
I wanted a tinted stick that was reef safe and had staying power, so I pulled the trigger on the Sahara shade. I've been surfing this most recent south swell at a certain San Diego canyon break.
