WHY do we care so much?

Each founder of SUNMUD is tied to nature in a special way…

Maricruz, a Rosarito native, practically grew up at the beach. The ocean has always been her sanctuary, her happy place. It breaks her heart to see how we’re slowly poisoning it with plastic and harming its creatures. Surfing, a passion she picked up later in life, deepened her connection to the ocean and fueled her desire to protect our planet.

Charles grew up in Florida, spending more time outside than in his house as a kid… His most fond memories have been in nature whether it was fishing, surfing or sitting on the sand, all outside. He is a strong believer that the earth and humans are one in the same. “We are a part of nature and nature is a part of us, so by protecting the planet, we are protecting ourselves.”-Charles Biset

Miles also grew up in Florida and had a similar upbringing to Charles, always outside creating memories in nature. But, it’s actually as an adult now that he is even more connected to the land. He actually lives off grid in northern california and is one with the land every single day. An avid river rafter and surfer, protecting water and the creatures that live in it is very important to him.
